Arthur L. Poch, MD

Dr. Arthur L. Poch is a board certified gastroenterologist who has practiced in the Shreveport area for thirty-seven years. He is a partner with GastroIntestinal Specialists, serves on the board of directors and as an active staff member of Shreveport Endoscopy Center, an ambulatory surgery center. He is a clinical investigator with Louisiana Research Center and has participated in more than fifty research studies. Dr. Poch’s particular areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer screening, motility disorders and GERD. He has served as Chief of Staff for Willis Knighton Medical Center and has been Director of the Red River GI Conference. Dr. Poch is also actively involved in the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Poch’s training includes a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Texas Dallas Southwestern Medical Center, preceded by his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He graduated from the University of Connecticut Medical School after completing a Bachelors in Science from Hamilton College. Dr. Poch was raised in Hartford, Connecticut and enjoys snow skiing and tennis.

J. Mark Provenza, MD

Dr. J. Mark Provenza is a gastroenterologist who has practiced in Shreveport since 1990. He is currently a partner with GastroIntestinal Specialists and serves on the Board of Directors. Dr. Provenza is a clinical investigator with Louisiana Research Center and has participated in over 100 research studies. His particular areas of interest include GERD, colon cancer prevention and screening, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Provenza’s training consists of a Gastroenterology Fellowship, his residency, and a Medical Degree from the Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. Before attending medical school, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Dr. Provenza is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Provenza is a Shreveport Native and enjoys tennis and painting.

John Bienvenu, MD

Dr. John N. Bienvenu is a board-certified gastroenterologist who has practiced in the Shreveport area since 2018. Dr. Bienvenu’s particular areas of interest include colorectal cancer screening, diseases of the biliary system, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasounds and GERD. Dr. Bienvenu is involved in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Shreveport Medical Society.

Dr. Bienvenu’s training includes a fellowship and residency in Gastroenterology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport, where he also received his medical degree. Before attending medical school, he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Bienvenu is a Shreveport native, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. His hobbies include duck hunting, fishing and Formula 1® racing.

Abby D. Linzay, MD

Dr. Catherine “Abby” D. Linzay is a board-certified gastroenterologist returning to Shreveport after recently completing her training. Dr. Linzay’s particular areas of interest include colorectal cancer screening, anorectal disorders, and women’s health, including pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence. Dr. Linzay is a member in good standing of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Linzay’s training includes completing fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport for internship and residency in Internal Medicine, where she also received her Medical Degree. Before attending medical school, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Dr. Linzay is originally from Lecompte, Louisiana and enjoys spending time with her husband Trey, young son Bo, and dog Roux. Her hobbies include cooking, entertaining her friends and family, and attending sporting events.

Heather Hebert, ACNP-BC

Heather Hebert is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with 18 years of nursing experience and has been practicing with GIS since 2005. She completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner emphasis at Northwestern State University in 2005, after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1998. Professional societies include the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners. Heather enjoys collaborating with the physicians, fellow mid-level providers, and the entire GIS staff to enhance the care of our patients and impact the company fellowship within the Practice. She loves fishing, listening to audio-books, running and spending time with her family.

Seth Miller, PA-C

Seth Miller is a board certified Physician Assistant with 8 years of experience at GIS. He began working for our practice immediately after completing the Physician Assistant Program from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2011. In 2008, Seth received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He appreciates working with the physicians and staff who are friendly, courteous, and always willing to help no matter the circumstance. Seth is looking forward to many years ahead as he continues to absorb the knowledge provided by the physician group and his peers. He grew up in Lake Charles, LA, and enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with family.

Ashley Cagle, FNP-C

Ashley Cagle is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has been practicing with GIS since September 2022 after completing her Master of Science degree in Nursing at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in May 2022. In 2010, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.  Ashley is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing.  She is honored to have the opportunity to collaborate and grow with such an adept group of physicians and extenders. Moreover, she is excited to join a practice that is dedicated to providing competent and compassionate care to the Shreveport-Bossier City and surrounding areas. Ashley grew up in Oak Grove, La and enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and spending time with her children and chocolate lab.
